Thank you for this Michael Arceneaux! I am constantly disappointed by how much we devalue teachers. Yes there are some bad teachers, but the vast majority of teachers are here because they have elected to be. Teaching is not for the faint of heart and there are far more of them out here trying to do right by kids as they battle the stupidity of folks like Mayor Lightfoot. I was appalled at her public dismissal of Chicago Public School teachers because they dare to ask for COVID protocols and protections. Like really I could not believe she was serious. This disrespect needs to stop but yet it is so commonplace now that few even notice it. We all need to rally around giving teachers the resources they need to teach and inspire our kids.
